Dressing for Wonderland

More & more Alice in Wonderland-inspired fashions are popping up in anticipation of the movie release on Friday.  While some styles happened more organically, numerous partnerships have been formed: Stella McCartney has designed an Alice in Wonderland-inspired line for Swarovski, OPI has a 4-color Alice in Wonderland line & even Avril Levigne has an Alice-esque line exclusively at Kohls.

Alice in Wonderland

While I would seriously consider adding some styles into my wardrobe, others I will not. For example, I think the headband with the bow is adorable & something I could see myself wearing.  The blue dELiAs dress pictured above is actually something I’m considering buying & I love the Christian Louboutin Mary Janes & Swarovski jewelry.  The things I can (& will) do without?  The shirts with too many embellishments & hats (not picture) reminiscent of the Mad Hatter in the movie.  Oh…& the suspenders.

Here are OPI’s Alice in Wonderland colors:

The colors are (from clockwise right) Absolutely Alice, Mad as a Hatter, Off with her Red! (shown on hand) & Thanks so Muchness.

I think we’ll continue to see products become more & more intertwined into movies, & vice versa, as is the case here.  If the partnerships seem fluid and natural, as they arguably are for Alice in Wonderland, I think consumers will enbrace them.  If they aren’t, it might have the ability to backfire & flop a movie.

H&M Fashion Sets

I walk by an H&M every morning on my way to work.  Lately, their store window displays have been amazing.  I don’t always find things I like at H&M, but I’m loving what they’re doing for spring.  They currently have a fun “style creator” on their Web site allowing you to make mini collages or style sets of some of their items.  Not quite as sophisticated as the sets you can create on Polyvore (I recently made a Polyvore set here), but still fun!  I’m seeing an upward trend in style sets – especially with Polyvore.  DVF just did held a contest with them, as did Coach (found here).

Here’s my H&M set with my favorite finds right now:

While assembling the style set on their site, the user is able to see how much each individual item costs, as well as the total cost of the set.  It’s definitely worth noting this ENTIRE set costs $205.65.  I think that’s an amazing price!  I especially love the blazer and the dress.  I NEED to go out & find them.  Especially since each is just about $35.  Fantastic.  What do you think?
